The 2021 edition of the legendary Dakar Rally won the quad class of the Argentines on a Yamaha YFM 700.
Although it was only his fourth participation in the Dakar, Manuel Andújar triumphed in Jeddah ahead of the Chilean Giovanni Enrico and the Dakar veteran Pablo Copetti from the USA. In addition to the winner of the motorcycle category, Kevin Benavides, the two Argentine drivers left their mark on the 2021 rally.
“It’s my fourth Dakar and my first victory. I am really happy to be here. It’s also very emotional. I appreciate all of the people who helped me get where I am today. The whole Dakar was difficult. My hands and everything, my whole body is really tired. But I did it and I come first. I am very happy. When I took part in the Dakar for the first time, I had the dream of winning the Dakar. However, it was all a lot more difficult than I thought at the beginning. The first few years I had enormous difficulties, including technical ones. But I was always happy with my pace. This year 2021 everything finally came together. Above all, I am so grateful to my “7240” team for the great work and of course to Yamaha, who simply built the perfect vehicle for me with the YFM 700.
My family was very supportive and I am really happy now. During the race I always believed in victory, I was fully motivated right from the start and never lost my faith in myself. I didn’t even know where I’d placed during the race, but in the last third of the stages I knew, OK, I’ll probably win. But you still have to cross the finish line to make the dream come true. I really don’t know my plans for the next year yet. I just want to go back to my hometown and rest there with my friends and family. “
The all-wheel drive quad class (ATV) was able to win with fourth place overall in the quad classification of Pole Kamil Wisniewsky.
